My reflection before practice
My increasingly passion for medicine and research drove to become highly interested in cardiovascular surgery. To learn about the great and constant work Dr. Garcia Rinaldi is doing on this field and understanding the importance, the care and the need of treating very sick people with cardiothoracic diseases interests me a lot. This experience will provide me the necessary skills and tools to understand the basics of life and in particular the complexity of one of the main organs of our body: the heart. I am highly interested in learning every single detail I can, starting from the disease's anatomy, the surgeries' implications, the patient's background, the different surgical techniques, the role of anesthesia, and the critical care of the instruments used to perform the surgeries. Besides, the experience in the Operation Room (OR), it is very important to me to have that patient interaction which will help me connect and empathize with them. I also expect to have a constant and great communication with the physicians and team in order to find the best solutions for the medical problems, as well as to get advice and orientation about my alignments for medical schools and my preparation towards getting the degree. This experience is going to be extremely amazing and I am so excited and thrilled to start one of the most important journeys prior to medical school.
